Diamond Beach, named for its sharp, diamond-shaped rocks lining the shore, stands as another incredible "cliff beach" on the southern coast of Nusa Penida Island in Bali, Indonesia.
This could very well be my favorite beach in Bali. Perhaps, it's even one of my favorite beaches worldwide. It shares a striking resemblance to Suwetan Beach but, in my opinion, outshines it.
The location has also gained popularity due to the Diamond Beach Nusa Penida Swing, where you can take swing photos between two palm trees on the beach.
This travel guide will provide detailed information on how to reach Diamond Beach in Bali, the current entrance fees, and everything you need to know before you go!
Diamond Beach on Nusa Penida Island
Since late 2018, a path has been carved out along the cliff side leading down to the beach, making Diamond Beach accessible to tourists.
The trail (and safety railings) are still under construction, but with careful footing, you can still reach the bottom. At the base, you'll find a vast stretch of pristine white sand, with water that gleams a bright turquoise color, almost resembling something like Listerine.
However, in my view, it's the enormous diamond-shaped rocks that truly set this beach apart and make it one of the most incredible beaches in the world.
There are some cracks in the cliff wall where you can take shelter from the sun if it's too hot; on sunny days, the white sand can be blindingly bright, so it's best to seek out some shady spots to beat the heat.
I haven't climbed up the green slope at the far end of the beach, but I know there's another hidden small beach on the other side of the slope, invisible from most angles.
The entire beach area is definitely larger than it appears in photographs, so there's plenty of exploring to do here.

Diamond Beach Nusa Penida Swing
Diamond Beach boasts a few unique swings where you can pay to take photos. The fee is approximately 100,000 Indonesian Rupiahs (around $7 USD), but it's likely negotiable.
As you hike down to the beach, you'll see these swings at the end of the path. One is a small thatched "birdhouse" where you can sit for a photo, and the other is a set of actual swings with ropes tied between two tall palm trees.
I'm generally not a fan of such tourist photo props as they tend to detract from natural scenery, but I think this might be an exception.
I have to admit, the Diamond Beach Nusa Penida Swing is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful swings in Bali, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and the pointed diamond rocks.
Current Entrance Fees for Visiting Diamond Beach on Penida Island
As of 2024, these are the prevailing ticket prices for visiting Diamond Beach on Nusa Penida Island.
Previously, these fees were included free of charge as part of the tourist ticket paid upon entering Nusa Penida Island, but apparently, they have resumed charging a separate entrance fee for accessing the beach.
How to Get to Diamond Beach in Bali
Diamond Beach is located on the southeast side of Nusa Penida Island, near Bali, Indonesia.
If you're staying on Penida Island, you can reach this beach by car or motorcycle, approximately one hour's drive from the main ferry terminal and accommodation areas in the north of Nusa Penida Island.
If you're riding a motorcycle, please be cautious as the roads are rugged and can be hazardous if you don't slow down in certain areas!
