Goa Raja Waterfall, a recently discovered treasure in the eastern part of Bali, lies just a short distance from the famous Tukad Cepung Waterfall. This stunning location is easily accessible from Ubud and boasts a magnificent waterfall within a cave, as its name suggests (Goa Raja means "King's Cave" in Indonesian).
Within the cave, there is a large waterfall, accompanied by a small natural pool perfect for swimming. In fact, we found this waterfall to be even more enchanting than Tukad Cepung, and it is also significantly less crowded with tourists.
This travel guide will provide you with all the information you need to know before visiting, including how to get there.

Goa Raja Waterfall: What to Expect
The hike to the waterfall is relatively short, taking only about 15 minutes through a mossy, green gorge. The trail begins with a steep downhill section for the first few minutes, but it flattens out for the remainder of the journey.
During our last trek, we noticed that some parts of the trail were damaged, and some bamboo bridges were also in disrepair. However, we hope that these issues will be addressed soon.
At one point, you will need to cross a small stream, and the rocks can be slippery. But even during the rainy season, the stream is quite shallow.
Finally, you will arrive at a grand cave, a breathtaking waterfall, and a natural swimming pool! There is even a bamboo hut where you can change your clothes.
Goa Raja Waterfall in Bali
Entrance Fee:
As of 2024, the entrance fee is 25,000 Indonesian rupiahs (approximately $2 USD).
Best Time to Visit:
The best time to visit this waterfall seems to be any month outside of the dry season (roughly May to November).
When we first trekked here in August, there was no waterfall, as the locals informed us that it had been redirected for irrigation purposes. However, when we returned in February, the waterfall was magnificent!
How to Get There:
Goa Raja Waterfall is located in the Bangli region of eastern Bali.
It is about a 45-minute drive from Ubud or Seminyak, and you can easily combine it with a visit to Tukad Cepung Waterfall, as the two attractions are just a few minutes apart!
The best way to get there is by renting a motorcycle or hiring a private car and driver (both options can be booked online).
