Tanjung Tinggi Beach (Pantai Tanjung Tinggi), located on the Indonesian island of Bintan, is a breathtakingly beautiful destination that stands out as one of the most incredible beaches I have ever witnessed, rivaling the finest shores of Seychelles or Thailand from a photographer's perspective.

What's most remarkable is that this paradise is entirely free to visit, and as of yet, it hasn't been overrun by hordes of tourists. This travel guide will provide insights on how to get there and everything you need to know before embarking on your journey!

Tanjung Tinggi Beach: A Perfect Blend of Nature's Wonders

Tanjung Tinggi Beach boasts a harmonious blend of white sandy shores, smooth granite boulders, and turquoise waters. Nestled within a small cove, the beach offers calm waters, and if you swim out to the rocky edges, you'll be greeted by stunning coral reefs.

While I don't have extensive experience snorkeling at this beach, I can't comment on the current conditions.

The trees and boulders of Tanjung Tinggi add an intriguing element to the landscape. Some of these massive rocks are adorned with the roots of banyan trees wrapping around them. There's even a colossal boulder known as "Papaya Rock," adding to the beach's allure.

Unfortunately, there's a considerable amount of litter left by locals surrounding the beach. If Indonesia were to clean up this area, it could easily become a world-class destination.

This beach has contributed to the tourism industry in Bintan and is nicknamed "Pantai Laskar Pelangi" (Indonesian for "Rainbow Troop Beach") due to its role in a film. A sign near the entrance narrates the scenes from the movie that were filmed here.

Tanjung Tinggi Beach is one of the most popular spots on Bintan Island for watching sunsets.

You can witness the sun setting behind the granite boulders, casting mirror-like reflections on the water. During the golden hour, there are numerous fantastic photo opportunities.

As of 2024, Tanjung Tinggi Beach is free of entry fees, but there is a small parking fee.

How to Get There

Pantai Tanjung Tinggi is situated on the northwest corner of Bintan Island, approximately 40 minutes by car from Tanjung Pandan City.

The best way to get there is by renting a motorcycle or hiring a private car and driver. You can book either option through Billitone Capture.
